First Day

Holy cow. I did it!

I made it through my first day! I made it through my first district-wide meeting, curriculum meeting, AND staff meeting. When I started the day, I wasn't sure I'd even make it to my car in the parking lot, let alone survive all that. Sure, today wasn't all that bad, but good Lord, am I happy at its outcome. I met some really great people that I'll be surrounded by throughout my student teaching, had a great burger at Eggy's in North Liberty (check it out, people! I mean it!), and wrote the kiddo's names on their name/desk plates.

I am so incredibly relieved and much more excited about the next few months than I have been. Mind you, I've been extremely excited, but the nervousness had definitely been at the forefront of my emotions lately. Anyway, I'm feeling a lot more relaxed now that I've met a few people and made it through the first day. I'm still nervous for every other day that follows this one, but I'll just forget about those days for the next few hours before bed. Tomorrow, I will help get the classroom ready to go and will meet the parents and students that come for Meet the Teacher Night. For now, I'm just pleased that I made it through the first day with my smile intact.

My next post will probably come Thursday evening, as that will be the first day I meet the kids! Eep!
